Meeting on Conservation and Management Programme in Ķemeri
“NAT-PROGRAMME” project team organised a meeting, held together with Nature Conservation Agency (NCA) Riga regional administration representatives, to discuss future National Conservation and Management Programme for Natura 2000 sites and regional priorities which must be included in the Program.

During the meeting, effort was made to particularize EU specially protected habitats status in Pierīga region, in order to identify urgent actions of individual existence and habitat restoration. Priority areas and actions to be taken were set, also.

It should be noted that the meeting is with far-reaching effects, as Conservation and Management Programme developed by "NAT-PROGRAMME “is thematic evaluation for nature conservation tasks, used as one of the key instruments in order to achieve the objectives stated on national level and will be used as source for Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund funding validation up to year 2020.

Colleagues from NCA Pieriga regional administration noted a series of priority actions to be performed, such as restoration of functionality of floodplain ecosystems, maintenance of specific structures in natural forest habitats, restoration of mire hydrological regime. It is seen a vast field of work - both systematically implemented measures for the habitats recovery as well as joint work and other community involvement actions to produce greater environmental awareness.

It is scheduled to meet with NCA Kurzeme, Vidzeme and Latgale regional administration representatives, to prepare a detailed reasoning for planned habitat restoration and protection measures in these regions for the coming years.
